And yet another new beginning…

Isn’t it great, alhamdulillah, that, unlike many things in life, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is so merciful with us that He will erase the sins of believers and those who truly repent and want to start over? That has always amazed me, subhanaAllah…that level of forgiveness is truly something that can only belong to Allah azza wa jal. Think about it, how many times have we angered those around us, lost some close friends, disconnected with loved ones, fought with special ones…It takes time to mend relationships, and sometimes, they never go back to normal…

SubhanaAllah, when you try to fix your relationship with your Lord, you only improve on it, and you only come closer to Him alhamdulillah…It’s truly rewarding to indulge in purification and repentance. It’s been described as sweet for those who reach and attain it…so sweet, you can taste it.

Today is the first day of Eid Al Adha 2009. Another year has passed by and as I look back, I think I’m ready for a fresh new start. Eid is a blessing from Allah on so many different levels. One of which, is the chance to reflect and ponder over elapsed time…It’s like a temporary station, a halt in time, an opportunity for reflection…

I talked with a dear friend yesterday, actually, not talked but chatted, for about an hour about life, where we’ve been and were we’re looking to go…Who we’ve been with and who we want to be with…Our past, our current state, our future, and finally, our departure from this world. SubhanaAllah, it never ceases to surprise me how much wisdom someone can have and advise others with while not applying it on their own? Why is that? Easier said than done, as always…LOL…I laugh at wisdom. People who lack it admire it. People who have it suffered getting it. And both of them want more of it. Life is hilarious. It always takes the most random turns and twists at the most surprising times; catches us off guard and teases us to hold on tight till the end of the ride…We get through it, but it’s not about that anymore! Nah! It’s about HOW we got through it.

The belief in Qada’ and Qadar is fascinating. And with those two words mentioned, it seems almost necessary that I mention the word patience. Because really, that’s what its all about! How are you gonna take on that sharp turn?

So…what does it all come down to? Hold on tight, be patient, smile and await the end of the ride…It’s a new path, a new beginning, a new chance to learn some new things, gain some so called precious wisdom, some independence, some strength, and most importantly, closeness and connection to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala…

Life is a roller coaster ride. And I want mine to be nothing less from a colorful, bright, and fun one filled with excitement, thrills, and adventures. Who wouldn’t want to hold on to such a ride?!

Hold on tight, remember that you get your strength from your closeness to Allah, because here we go…
